The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and the Louisiana Department of Health will be running a live virtual town hall meeting today to educate Louisiana residents on the COVID-19 vaccines.

The meeting will be held via Zoom at 1:00pm. Experts will discuss how the vaccines work and how Louisiana is distributing them across the state. Featured speakers will include Dr. Joseph Kanter, Interim Assistant Secretary for the Louisiana Office of Public Health, and Ginger Hunt, a nurse practitioner specialist who has founded 11 federally qualified health centers across five Louisiana parishes.

They will cover who is currently eligible to receive the vaccines and provide resources to find out where to get vaccinated, including how Louisiana is distributing the vaccines in rural areas of the state.

My wife works in the healthcare field, and she received her first round of the Pfizer vaccine about three weeks ago. She didn't have any side effects and everything went smoothly. She's a little nervous about getting her second round of the vaccine this Friday, after hearing stories of how it seems to be more potent than the first one and more people have reactions to it. I definitely sleep better at night knowing she's better protected, as she works around COVID-positive patients every day.

Participation is open to anyone wanting more information, and a question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. To register for this virtual town hall meeting, click here.

If you or a loved one is not able to attend the presentation, you can watch a replay here.
