Two Dead in Thursday Morning Crash on Red Davis McCollister Rd.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on Red Davis McCollister Rd in Lake Charles on Thursday morning, at about 10:15 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies learned a head-on collision had occurred between a pickup truck and a car. The truck was reportedly on fire as it lay overturned in a ditch.

After investigating it was determined that the car was traveling eastbound on Red Davis McCollister Rd. and the truck was traveling westbound when one of the vehicles crossed the center line leading to both vehicles colliding. It’s still undetermined which vehicle crossed over the center line.

According to the media release, 24-year-old Wilson T. Freeman of Lake Charles was the driver of the car, and 19-year-old Morgan N. Jordan of Lake Charles was a rear passenger. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. There was a driver in the front passenger seat who was airlifted to a hospital out of town and listed in critical condition. The driver of the pickup truck crawled out through the windshield and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and listed in serious condition.

As to what caused the crash, the investigation continues as they wait for the results from toxicology test taken from both drivers.
