Trooper Raise to Oil Jobs– Mixed Results in This Week’s Listener Polls
We had two questions for you this past week. One dealt with falling crude prices effects on local jobs. The other was about the Louisiana State Police 20% raise for troopers.
Lets start with the falling oil prices effect on jobs in Southwest Louisiana. It seems we are an optimistic/pessimistic bunch. The majority (38%) thought the low prices would have no effect on local jobs because prices will go back up. Thirty percent said that the falling oil prices would hurt local employment. The question was "Do you think dropping oil prices will cost Louisiana jobs?"
Then we ask "Do you agree with giving Louisiana State Troopers a 20% raise?" The majority of you (50%) answered yes. Some of you (20) either had received a ticket and were holding a grudge or thought it was funny to say "No ... one of them gave me a ticket." Only 30% said it was "too much."
