Restaurants We Wish Were Still In Lake Charles
With the closing of McAlister's deli on Monday in Lake Charles, it sparked the conversation of which restaurants we wish we still had around in the area.
We have lost some really great places in Lake Charles that have given us some very fond memories. They were iconic places to go hang out, eat and drink.
We took a poll and phone calls during the morning show, and we came up with a list of restaurants you may have forgotten about, but will remember now when you see this list.
#1 Whataburger -- The Ketchup is addicting! It was located on Ryan Street across from the Kmart shopping center. It's now a Starbucks.
#2 Western Sizzlin' -- Located on Prien Lake Road across from KD's. OMG, they had the best buttered rolls. They were huge, and more like buttered loafs of bread. People actually would just order the rolls as a dinner! Plus their steaks were great too.
#3 Peppers -- Pepper's was located on Prien Lake Road across from the Mall, where Petco is now. This was a great place to go after work to sit in their Cantina and have an ice cold margarita and listen to live music. When you went there, you would most likely run into someone you knew.
#4 Applebee's -- Closed down after hurricane Rita in 2005. The thing most people miss was the awesome location on Ryan Street next to Don's Car Wash and the cheap food.
#5 God Father's Pizza -- Located in the Market Basket shopping center on Ryan Street, Godfather's pizza had the biggest deep dish pizza you would have ever eaten.
#6 Ruby Tuesdays -- Located on Prien Lake Road across from the Prien Lake Mall, it had the nest BBQ babyback ribs and hamburgers. They were awesome!
#7 Shakey's Pizza -- Located on McNeese street where "On The Rocks" is now, it was the first real pizza joint in Lake Charles that was really kid friendly. People would go to Shakey's before and after McNeese Football games, and play in their big arcade.
