One of the most beloved holiday events in the state is changing up their game plan this year due to coronavirus concerns. The annual "Celebration in the Oaks" is in it's 34th year, and is always one of the premiere holiday celebration in New Orleans.

Over a million twinkling lights turn the majestic oak trees in City Park into a winter wonderland each Christmas season, and this year will be no different. But instead of a self guided walking tour, the festivities will be drive thru only on a 2.25 mile track around and through the historic park. The festival will be held from November 26 - January 3, with the exception of December 24 and 31. 2020 will see a few changes to ticketing, including the fact that all tickets must be purchased online in advance, with a specific time and date. Only a certain amount of tickets will be sold for each day, and they are on sale now.

Beautiful lighted holiday displays and attractions will also be on hand for the thousands of visitors who attend, and in years past, more than 165,000 visitors have enjoyed the uniquely Louisina take on Christmas each December. According to the Park website, proceeds from "Celebration in the Oaks" benefits the maintenance, care, and beautification of New Orleans City Park. CEO Bob Becker told WWL  “We know our guests need something to look forward to during this troubling time. We’re thrilled to be able to turn the New Orleans tradition of Celebration in the Oaks into an activity people of all ages can attend safely during the holiday season."
