As students are preparing to head off to college, I have seen many friends of mine taking their young students to their dorms and seeing the lengthy posts under the pictures where I am sure their kids are like, "I love you mom, but can you please go home?"

Well, McNeese is preparing for their fall year with new and old students arriving back on campus. Unfortunately, unlike when they left, things are a little different now.

Today on the campus will be Welcome Back Wednesday from 10:00am-12:00pm at the quad. This is where students, faculty, and staff become acquainted with the university's 100-plus recognized student organizations recruiting new members and sharing important information with others.

Thursday is Get Connected Day, from 9:00am-12:00pm at the quad as well. Various student support departments and academic areas will highlight table setups to meet new students and offer information and answer questions.

Monday, August 24 is Campus Ministries Day at the quad from 9:30pm-12:30pm. McNeese's campus ministry student organizations will be present to offer information about their services as well as how to join the organization. There will be information on attending meetings as well as free lunch programs.

Tuesday, August 25 is Student Government Day from 10:00am-1:00pm at the quad with the McNeese hosting a day to show its appreciation of the student body.

Wednesday, August 26 is Prepare for Wellness Wednesday from 9:00am-12:00pm at the quad. Student Health Services will coordinate a program to promote student wellness. There will be tables with information and resources on topics including academic health, emotional health, nutritional health, sexual health, and healthy alcohol consumption.

Finally, Thursday, August 27 is Community Day, which will be held virtually this year, with local businesses and community service agencies providing information on their products and services to students. They will also offer part-time employment and internship opportunities.

This is going to be a fun-filled week and a great year for all involved. If you would like more information, please call the McNeese Student Union and Activities office at 337-475-5609.
