School is right around the corner and parents and grandparents will be getting their kids prepared to head back to hit the books.

With that being said, they will also be taking kids to and from their schools and safety is always a must when transporting your kids to and from places.

The Louisiana State Police (LSP) along with the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force and the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office will hold a free child safety seat check event this Saturday, August 5th in DeRidder, La.

Sgt. James Anderson with the LSP said that free booster seats will be provided for children but you will have to meet the following guidelines:

If you attend the event this Saturday the Child and vehicle must be present.  Your child must weigh from 40 to 100 pounds and be less than 4 feet 9 inches tall.

Also your child must be at least 4 years old and this is limited to only one seat per child.

The vent is this Saturday, August 5th in DeRidder, Louisiana and will be located at Green Chevrolet located at 307 East First Street in DeRidder. This FREE event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
