Live Nation Wants Receipts You’re COVID-19 Free
Okay so, if you're a anti-vaxxer/masker this is going to be a big bummer to hear. Live Nation Entertainment just announced all ticket holders will have to show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID test, to enter any of their events. This mandate will go into effect and be strictly enforced on October 4, 2021. The are the largest entertainment company on the planet for live shows and promotes, operates and manages ticket sales here in the U.S. and around the globe.
In a recent statement, Live Nation president/CEO Michael Rapino said
“Vaccines are going to be your ticket back to shows. We will be following the model we developed for Lollapalooza and requiring this for artists, fans, and employees at Live Nation venues and festivals everywhere possible in the US.”
Roughly 7 days ago, AEG Presents, another global leader in live entertainment and events, announced they will be requiring proof of vaccination. Jay Marciano, COO, AEG Chairman and CEO, said their vaccination mandate would begin October 1, for entry into all AEG owned clubs, theatres, and festivals. Marciano said of his decision on vaccinations:
“We have come to the conclusion that, as a market leader, it was up to us to take a real stand on vaccination status,” The AEG CEO continued, “Just a few weeks ago, we were optimistic about where our business, and country, were heading. The Delta variant, combined with vaccine hesitancy, is pushing us in the wrong direction again. We realize that some people might look at this as a dramatic step, but it’s the right one. We also are aware that there might be some initial pushback, but I’m confident and hopeful that, at the end of the day, we will be on the right side of history and doing what’s best for artists, fans, and live event workers.”
Of course Live Nation and AEG Presents are not alone. Many cities like New York, San Francisco, New Orleans, various countries like France and Italy, to higher education universities are requiring proof of vaccination. You can bet more are to follow, it's all about ending the pandemic. We all have to do our part.
