A former priest from Waco, Texas, has been brought to the state after being arrested in Florida, facing charges for his alleged actions against unidentified women. Here's what is known at the time of writing.

Anthony Odiong, And The Crimes He Stands Accused Of

As reported by KCEN, Odiong was was recently taken into custody in the state of Florida on July 16th of 2024. His reason for arrest in Florida is that he was suspected to be in possession of child pornography. Following the Florida arrest, Odiong was moved to McLennan County and placed in jail.

Per the Waco Police Department, Odiong is facing two reported sexual assault charges, but more may be coming. Waco Law Enforcement is asking those were harmed by Odiong to tell their stories to police.

Actions Suspected To Be Done By Odiong

KWTX reported one of the statement from one of the victims alleged to have been harmed by Odiong. The victim, who is unidentified at the time of writing, said this via her lawyers Chris King and Robert Callahan:

“I sought spiritual direction from Anthony Odiong during one of the darkest phases of my life...Rather than helping me, he exploited my vulnerability and trust. He manipulated, coerced, threatened, and assaulted me and the Austin diocese did nothing to protect me, despite having received at least one previous report about his conduct."

Odiong's time in Waco included working at St. Peters Catholic Student Center and St. Mary's of the Assumption in West, as revealed by KCEN. His time with the two took place from 2007 to 2012.
