Texas Fire Station Damaged by Fire While Firefighters Were Away on Call
A fire station in Irving, Texas was damaged by a fire while firefighters were away on another call.
WFAA reports that a delivery person driving past the station noticed smoke coming from the fire station and that was when the call came in that there was a fire at the fire station.
It appears that the fire started in the kitchen of the station, and luckily no firefighting equipment was damaged in the blaze. However, the living quarters at the station were destroyed, and now the fire is under investigation.
Another station responded to the call, but firefighters who called Station 9 home returned to assist in putting out the fire at their station. It truly was like driving up to your own home while it was on fire.
The firefighters from Station 9 will now be housed at nearby stations until repairs are made at Station 9.
No one was in the building when the fire started, and no one was injured in this bizarre incident in Texas.
Let this story be a reminder for you to always check the stove or oven when you leave your home. We are all living a fast-paced life, and it is important to slow down when leaving your home to make sure it is secure while you are away.
