New Locations Announced For High School Football Kiwanis Jamboree Kickoff Event
If you're like most people around Acadiana, you know that high school football is almost a religion to some people in our area. Whether you went to a particular school or your child played for a particular team, you likely are ready to see the season begin.
This year's 72nd Annual Kiwanis Club of Lafayette High School Football Jamboree will be the kickoff event to what will hopefully be another exciting season for local teams.
With the jamboree this year comes a few changes though, as so many changes are being made over at Cajun Field. The renovations at Cajun Field are going to mean that Kiwanis football games will have to be played at another location, or in this case, two other locations.
For the teams that will be playing on Thursday, August 29, they will be playing at St. Thomas More High School which is located at 450 East Farrel Road. The games to be played there include the following:
Notre Dame versus Lafayette High
Southside versus St. Thomas More
Carencro versus Teurlings
For the teams that will be playing on Friday, August 30, they will be playing at Acadiana High School which is located at 315 Rue du Belier. The games to be played there include the following:
Breaux Bridge versus Acadiana High School
Comeaux High School versus Cecilia High School
Northside High School versus St. Martinville
Each game will consist of 2 12-minute halves along with a 3-minute halftime.
It's $15 to get into the gate for each night, and there is a clear bag policy at both stadiums.
Other things to know are that weapons detectors will be at the entrance of each venue. Anyone entering either of the stadiums will have to go through the detectors. Also, vaping and e-cigarettes are not allowed.
There will be concession stands with food and beverages available for purchase at all games.
Food for purchase will include:
Hot dogs
Hamburgers
Chips
Nachos
Popcorn
Candy
Deano's Pizza
Cane's (must be cash only for these products)
