Louisiana Cardiologist Arrested After Patients Allegedly Groped, Touched Inappropriately
A New Orleans-area cardiologist, Dr. Keith Hickey, 63, has been arrested following accusations from multiple patients who allege he engaged in inappropriate and criminal conduct during their medical appointments. Hickey, a Slidell-based doctor, was taken into custody Wednesday, October 30, by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office (STPSO) and now faces charges of sexual battery, attempted sexual battery, battery, and simple assault.
According to FOX 8, the investigation into Hickey began in May, when a female patient reported that the doctor had “touched her inappropriately” during an examination, according to the STPSO. The woman described an incident in which Hickey allegedly instructed her to disrobe and then made contact with her breast and vaginal area, all while making inappropriate remarks.
As detectives investigated this initial claim, a second woman came forward, recounting a similar experience with the doctor. The second patient reported that Hickey had made sexual advances, attempting to lower her pants and put his hands up her shirt during an appointment.
The sheriff’s office issued a warrant for Hickey’s arrest, and he was subsequently booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center. According to the STPSO, both incidents occurred in St. Tammany Parish.
Hickey, a graduate of LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Medicine, also completed a residency at Duke University Medical Center.
The investigation remains active, and authorities are encouraging any additional individuals who believe they may have been victimized by Hickey to come forward. Anyone with relevant information can contact STPSO investigators at (985) 898-2341.
