Shaking Out the Good Stuff – Church Point Hosts Benefit Cookoff
This week's Morton Salt Shaking Out the Good Stuff spotlight story is one of those that is bittersweet and all too familiar to families in South Louisiana. The "sweet" part is the fact that neighbors in and around Church Point, Louisiana are coming together to help one of their own. The "bitter" part of the equation is the fact that it's yet another benefit for a cancer patient in South Louisiana.
The flyer posted on Facebook by organizers of the benefit boldly proclaims "Eva's Fight is Our Fight". And there is no doubt in my mind that no greater war against cancer will be fought than the one a loving community is helping to bring a positive outcome for Eva Pitre.
The fabric of Acadiana's smaller communities is very tightly woven. In many cases, the people who live and work next to each other are not only fast friends but they are often related. Granted it might be by a distant cousin or marriage, but there is still a strong sense of family when you call places like Swords, Basile, Iota, and Elton home.
Here in Louisiana when you "fight one" you get us "all" and that goes for cancer too. If one is sick, we are all going to pitch in to lighten the load, and here is how you can help us Shake Out the Good Stuff at the Church Point Pavillion on October 19th.
Just about everything you need or want to know about the event is in the flyer you see above. The musical lineup is great and the afternoon's entertainment will wrap up with Geno Delafose and French Rockin' Boogie. You know the food is going to be great with teams competing for bragging rights. And you better believe your sweet tooth will be satisfied and your thirst quenched too.
Admission is $5.00 and to compete in the Anything Over Rice Cookoff it's $50 a team but you do get four bracelets along with your entry fee. You may also purchase tickets for the 50/50 raffle and bring along some extra money for the well-stocked live auction.
We do hope you'll come out and support Eva and her family and friends. And we think Morton Salt's Weeks Island Facility for allowing us to borrow their Shaking Out the Good Stuff Spotlight this week.
If we may reflect back on Morton Salt, they are a community-minded business that understands that people are what makes South Louisiana such a wonderful place to call home and to work. And if you're looking to make a change in your career, Morton Salt's Weeks Island Facility would love to discuss the opportunities they have.
Many of the jobs pay very well and offer maximum benefits too. And perhaps best of all, you get to go home and sleep in your own bed at the end of every workday. If you'd like to find out more, visit this link
And we'll see you in Church Point on October 19th.
