(KMDL-FM) It is springtime, the weather is warming, the grass is growing, and just about every nose in Louisiana is blowing. Yeah, the pollen can be pretty bad here along the bayou, but you know what that means, right? Where there is pollen, there are flowers, and where there are flowers, there is beauty.

Okay, I know you're miserable, but take another Zyrtec and work with me on this "flowers and beauty" thing. And yes, I am aware that Louisiana has some of the highest pollen counts in the country right now. But don't blame it on the flowers. You can blame that on the Oak Trees, the grasses, and the Juniper trees. That's what's causing almost all of your pollen problems.

Louisiana Lands Three Spots on 'Most Beautiful in Spring' List

Now, let's get back to beautiful and the beauty that is springtime in Louisiana. The Matin Real Estate group surveyed over 3,000 real estate professionals. The survey asked that group to uncover the most beautiful places in the country during spring. The results of that survey uncovered 145 of the most beautiful places to experience the transition from winter to summer across the United States.

Here in Louisiana, where spring lasts three months on the calendar but about three weeks in real time, we had, oddly enough, three locations represented in the Matin Group survey. One of the Louisiana locations was actually in the Top Ten of the entire list.

Since that's kind of the biggest deal, we will work backward as we unveil the locations to you. But if you want to read ahead of the rest of the class, you can see the Matin Group list here.

This Baton Rouge Neighborhood Earns Accolades for its Springtime Beauty

At number 99 on the most beautiful places for spring list comes Spanish Town in Baton Rouge. Spanish Town is the oldest and most historic neighborhood in the capital city. The area was established in the early 1800's by settlers from the Canary Islands.

The neighborhood is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and when the spring weather arrives, the historic, narrow lots and cottage-style homes come alive with color and blooms of all shapes and sizes.

For Louisiana's next entry on the most beautiful in springtime list, we go to north Louisiana and the Highland neighborhood of Shreveport. The Highland Neighborhood Association says it's one of Shreveport's most dynamic neighborhoods. The people who live there are community-minded, and the neighborhood offers beautiful parks, shaded trails, and inviting green spaces that come alive during spring.

This is Louisiana's Most Beautiful Place During Spring

And Louisiana's highest ranking entry on the Most Beautiful Places During Spring List comes from New Orleans, and you should have expected it would be the Garden District. The beautiful homes, the wrought iron fencing, the Old South charm, and of course, the beautiful blooms and blossoms make the Garden District a must-see spot, especially during spring.

What makes spring in the Garden District of New Orleans even more enticing to visit is the fact that the summer heat and humidity have yet to set in. So, you could actually take a stroll and not die of heat stroke, but you will be awestruck by the amazing natural beauty that the neighborhood has to offer.

And since we're discussing places in Louisiana, let's talk about the people, too. How many of these can you answer correctly?
