Gulf Shores Attraction Announces New Fun Features for Summer

Lafayette, Louisiana, has a tradition. The first week after school is dismissed, half the town goes to Gulf Shores Alabama. The second week after school is dismissed, those who didn't go the first-week head for Gulf Shores while the others return to work. Okay, we're reaching with that analogy but for a lot of Louisiana residents, it just isn't summer without a visit to the Redneck Riviera. 

While your condo of record might be located in Orange Beach, Perdido Key, or Pensacola Beach it's only a short drive to Gulf Shores in Alabama. A favorite vacation spot for Louisiana residents for decades. And, one of Gulf Shores' favorite fun destinations for families, Waterville USA, is kicking things up a notch this summer with some new features that seem to cater more to adults than to kids.

Since many of you have experienced Waterville USA you know about the mini golf, the go-karts, the arcade, and the other attractions that have made the establishment a favorite place for families over the years. But now, Waterville USA has announced the opening of two Topgolf Swing Suites.

The Topgolf Swing Suites offer up to eight golfers the opportunity to play various golf courses from around the world via computer simulation. Those who have experienced the simulators say they are so realistic that many professional golfers and trainers use the technology to improve their game.

The Swing Suites, as they are called, also offer more than just golf. The simulators can do soccer and even an adaptation of everyone's middle school nightmare, dodgeball. Except, in this case, it's called Zombie Dodgeball which could be even more frightening than being chosen to play as "skins" back in middle school.

The proprietors of Waterville USA also have added two 36-foot bowling lanes near the golf suites. There is also a new Lagoon Bar which is located near the arcade. This will allow adults to sip on adult beverages while the kids enjoy the arcade.

The operators of the facility say they are not shifting toward becoming an adult theme park. The plan is to stay family-friendly but they are looking to enhance their evening business and clientele by catering to more adult-friendly activities.

And I guess we should mention, you'll still be able to enjoy the "water" part of Waterville USA with the lazy river, the slides, the wave pool, the Flow Rider surf simulator, and the Shrimp Boat Village playground too.

Waterville USA will open this weekend for guests attending the Hangout Music Festival and then reopen for the season on Saturday, May 27th.
