(Pineville, Louisiana) - As a strong winter storm approaches the southern region, much of central and north Louisiana is preparing for a few days of ice.

Recent weather models show a more northerly trend in the ice and snow threat, leaving much of South Louisiana with a cold rain forecast, while those north of Acadiana are preparing for ice.

Sadly, as ice accumulates on roads, trees, and power lines, this can paralyze a community. Many local leaders and police agencies are telling citizens who will be impacted by the ice storm to prepare as if a hurricane were approaching, and once the ice begins to accumulate, those in the impacted areas will not be able to get on the roads.

Knowing that, the Pineville Police Department shared a reminder/tutorial on social media about what not to do if you drive across an icy road, and they chose to use a scene from the movie "Tommy Boy."

While the clip from the movie is hilarious, the message is still quite clear: it's never safe to drive on roads covered in ice, and people in the northern portions of the state should really monitor the conditions later into the weekend.

Weather models are calling for catastrophic amounts of ice in the northern portions of Louisiana, so if you know anyone in Central or North Louisiana, you may want to invite them to make the drive down south before the winter storm arrives, and have the gumbo pot out upon their arrival.

Now to the message from the Pinvillle Police Dept. We think you'll enjoy it, and we highly recommend turning up the volume for this one.
