(KTDY) -The new school year is just over a week old, but that hasn't stopped some parents from expressing their disdain for what some are doing on campuses across Acadiana.

By now, you probably know that we live in an instant gratification world, and some couldn't care less about your time or feelings. Sadly, that's just the world we're in now.

Well, as the school year begins, we all look forward to our kids getting back in a routine, getting back in various activities, but one thing some parents do not look forward to is getting their kids to and from school each day.

For parents who drop off their kids and/or pick them up after school, you know how taxing the school car rider line can be. To start the year, the lines are long and it's hot, thus we can be very frustrated while in line.

Something else that can add to your frustration while in the car rider line is those who elect to cut the line. Yes, grown adults are seen each day cutting the line, because their time is way more valuable than yours.

I recently saw a parent post a screenshot of a conversation between her and a parent whom she called out for cutting in line at school. The parent who was guilty of cutting in line said that others do it all the time, so she did too when she saw fit.

No, that is not how parents are supposed to act; we are to set examples for our kids, and cutting others off in a car line is NOT the right thing to do. Yes, we're all in a hurry these days, but to intentionally cut in front of someone is not only rude but also very immature.

So, we hope that you don't have to experience the selfishness of others this school year. But if someone becomes a habitual line cutter at your child's school, you should notify the administration at the school. Your time is valuable, and no one should think their time is more important than yours.

Let's all do our small part to make this school year enjoyable and one to remember. And yes, it can all start with simply being courteous while in the car rider line at your child's school.
