Local Police Bring Holiday Cheer With Gift Card Giveaways
(99.9 KTDY) - Anytime you are on a roadway in Louisiana, and you see some blue lights flashing behind you, you know it's not a good thing, usually. Recently, one police department stopped issuing citations and instead spread Christmas cheer.
Members of the Iowa Police Department spoke with drivers after pulling them over, but instead of bad news, the drivers received excellent news.

I'm going to give you a warning today, and I'm going to give you something for Christmas. We are handing out our gift cards for our annual gift card event, so I'm going to bless you with a $30 gift card and a warning.
Who wouldn't be happy to hear that? When someone gets pulled over, they are probably thinking, "Uh-oh, what did I do, and how much is this going to cost me"?
The only feeling someone has when they see those blue lights is panic. That was not the case in Iowa. Staff Sergeant Johnson was one of the officers who pulled over a driver for a minor infraction and delivered good news.

One of the people who was pulled over was Ursaline Warner. KPLC TV was able to ride along with Staff Sergeant Johnson, and here's what Warner told them about getting the gift card,
I was coming from the post office, picking up my parents’ mail, did not see the quick turn and did not use my turn signal, then I was stopped by Staff Sgt. Johnson. I was thinking, ‘Ughhh, my turn signal.
For another driver, Baylie Walters, she said it was really special
They keep us safe, and this just makes you less worried. At first, I was worried. I was like, ‘Oh no, there’s two of them.’ So now I’m just super thankful for this.
When all was said and done, the officers handed out 75 gift cards that had been donated to them. This is the eighth year for the program.
