Like many traditional retailers who have struggled since the pandemic and plunging sales, Big Lots announced in June that it was facing several areas of financial strain that would result in 35-40 stores closing across the country.

But an updated filing with the SEC revealed that they would have to close way more stores than they originally thought. Big Lots listed 1,389 stores nationwide on its website, but with at least 289 closures coming, Big Lots will see a nearly 21% decrease in stores across the nation.

According to its website, 75 of California's 109 stores are slated for closure. Lots of stores in Arizona, Washington and Florida will also be shut down and everything in the store is being marked for sale at 20% off.

More than half of the country (36 states in total) will see stores close in their state.

Big Lots fans need not worry here in the Lone Star State. NONE of the 116 Texas locations were marked as closing, according to the Big Lots website. So you can still get your shop on and find what you're looking for.

Locations in Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Tennessee West Virginia, and Wyoming are all safe and will remain open.
