East Texas Anti-Gang Operation Arrests 11 People
The Smith County Sheriff's Office Sent Us Details About How They, Along With Other Texas Law Enforcement Agencies, Are Fighting Gangs.
According to a press release, The East Texas Anti-Gang Center-Tyler (TAG) which is one of nine Texas Anti-Gang Centers that operate in the State of Texas conducted a proactive investigative enforcement operation in and around the Tyler and Smith County area on Wednesday June 12, 2024.
The operation was a proactive enforcement and deterrent event to target criminal street gang activity that operate in our community.
The operation yielded 11 arrests for various charges including:
Charges – Counts
- 1. Felony Warrants – 3
- 2. Misdemeanor Warrants – 3
- 3. Possession of Controlled Substance PG1<1 Cocaine (Felony) – 1
- 4. Possession of Controlled Substance PG2 <1 – THC (Felony) – 1
- 5. Evading Arrest Detention with Vehicle (Felony) – 1
- 6. Possession of Controlled Substance PG 3 (Misdemeanor) – 1
- 7. Possession of Marijuana <2oz (Misdemeanors) – 3
- 8. Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon (Misdemeanor) – 1
- 9. Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon (Felony) – 1
- 10. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – (Misdemeanor) – 3
The Operation Also Recovered A Stolen Gun And Drugs
A stolen gun was recovered in the operation as well as Cocaine, Hydrocodone pills, Marijuana, and K2. The Operation also reported 61 Traffic Stops.
Several Gangs were reportedly Encountered including Rolling 60’s Crips, Five Deuce Hoover Crips, Insane Crip Gangsters, 5 9 Bounty Hunter Bloods. The Operation also reported the following:
- Gang Member Encounters (already documented) – 11
- New gang members getting documented from operation – 8
- Federal cases generated from operation – 1
The following TAG Agencies participated in the operation:
Texas DPS, Tyler Police Department, , Smith County Sheriff’s Office, Smith County District Attorney’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, Alcohol-Tobacco-Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Marshals Service, Texas Counterdrug Task Force, Smith County Constable Precinct-1 and Smith County Constable Precinct-5 were all involved.
