(East Texas) Now that Fall has officially arrived in East Texas, we are just weeks away from seeing the signs of a change in season with a slowing of the greening of our yards and the leaves falling from the trees. We'll also see cooler and less humid temperatures and shorter days.

Fall Cold Front Brings Potentially Dangerous Weather to East Texas

Only three days into the fall season, it appears as if East Texas may face some unsettled weather. There is the potential of severe weather moving through on Wednesday morning and early afternoon as the first cold front of the season passes through.

East Texas is very familiar with severe weather during the Spring, with torrential downpours, large hail, high winds, lightning, and very destructive tornadoes. It's the most dangerous time of the year in the Piney Woods, and fall is the second most dangerous time of the year when it comes to weather-related damage.

What to Expect From Wednesday’s Cold Front

A cold front is on the way, and it will bring with it some cooler, less humid air and the chance of heavy rainfall, high winds, possible hail, and the possibility of a tornado.

Showers and thunderstorms will begin overnight on Wednesday and move through the area throughout the morning on Wednesday before exiting the region by mid-afternoon. Local meteorologists are calling for periods of heavy rainfall with possible gusty winds, and a few strong thunderstorms could produce some small hail during the first part of Wednesday.
