(East Texas) With the nickname 'The Rose City', you would think Tyler, Texas, would smell a lot like roses; unfortunately, it doesn't. In fact, in some parts of the southern area of town, it can be one of the smelliest places on Earth. Depending upon how the wind blows.  The area near Faulkner Park on Cumberland Road can become pretty foul.

Thankfully, I live far enough away from the sewer plant that's on Cumberland Road, and I don't have to inhale the smell like some of the residents do in the area. We posed the question on social media, "What is the stinkiest town in East Texas?" and the responses poured in.

East Texans Speak Out on Bad Odors

Apparently, there are areas far worse than the sewage treatment plant on Cumberland Road in Tyler. Of course, we're known for our pine trees and the scent they give off, along with azaleas, roses, and other flowers in the spring, but the smell of pumping crude oil, large chicken farms, and cattle ranches can be a bit much for the nose in some parts of East Texas.
