(Mix 93-1) Hunger Action Month may be coming to an end, but that doesn't mean there's an end to hunger. In fact, people still count on donations of food and the East Texas Food Bank (ETFB) because there are many hungry people here in East Texas, including your neighbors and co-workers. September is designated as Hunger Action Month, and for the past thirty days, a peanut butter challenge has been happening in grocery stores across East Texas.

When the competition began in 2024, more than 38,500 jars of peanut butter were collected during the drive between Tyler and Longview. Tyler ended up winning the inaugural competition, and this year, the winner of the 'Spread The Love Peanut Butter Drive' is Longview.

Longview donated 6,452 pounds, while Tyler donated 2,259 pounds of peanut butter and won the 'Spread The Love Peanut Butter Drive' for 2025. Now the series is tied. ETFB CEO David Emerson says,

Everyone is a winner in this friendly competition because the food and funds collected will help East Texans in need. Each jar donated represents a family that will receive nutritious, protein-rich food. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in this drive."
