Those bright yellow rectangular boxes, sometimes white, with fold-up side windows, and a string of 120-watt light bulbs making an inverted V above it that are covered with advertisement flags and signs of 'No Smoking' are popping up all across East Texas.

Those my friends are official fireworks stands! They are getting ready for the July 4th Independence Day weekend festivities that we all love this time of the year.

Sparklers, Roman candles, rockets, artillery shells, and more will soon be available for legal purchase across the state of Texas for our 4th of July celebrations.

We'll be gathering with friends and relatives to celebrate the birth of our great nation on the 4th of July. The grills will be fired up and flame kissing some hand-pounded burgers and hot dogs. We'll devour potato salad, baked beans, and homemade ice cream by the pool or lakeside.

Knowing we've got to get our stash of fireworks safely stored away before we can turn our eyes toward the sky to watch some colorful explosions happen over our heads that will end a perfect way of celebrating the birth of the United States Of America.

Firework stands and shops across Texas will open on June 24th so we can get ready for the big event on the 4th. These retail stands are sometimes fundraisers for non-profit organizations, so you could be supporting a great cause in your community through midnight on July 4th.

Wherever you shop for your fountains, rockets, sparklers, aerial shots, Roman candles, firecrackers, and smoke bombs - shop smart and remember to play safe around fireworks because they can cause serious injuries. Soon those slow-burning punks will be lit to give that special spark needed to light up the East Texas sky with colorful fireworks on the 4th of July.

You can always check out one of the several professionally produced fireworks shows going on around East Texas instead of producing your own in your backyard. But if you choose to do so, remember it could be illegal to shoot off fireworks where you live. Most cities have ordinances banning the use of fireworks and some areas, including counties, could have other restrictions or ordinances against the use of fireworks. Check with your local law enforcement in hopes of avoiding a hefty fine.

Have fun and be safe on the 4th of July with your friends and family.
