44 People Are Facing A Felony Charge After Being Arrested In Gregg County
All you need to do is obey the law and you'll stay out of jail. It's a simple concept. It's just one of the few places I never want to go!
Crime though is a way of life for some people. Other people, just get caught up in the moment and do something to break the law, and that requires them to take a trip to the county jail via a free ride in the back of a patrol unit.
Last week more than 150 people were booked into the Gregg County Jail on various misdemeanor and felony charges by Longview, Kilgore, White Oak and Hallsville Police Departments along with arrests by the Gregg County Sheriff's Office, Texas Game Wardens and Texas DPS officers.
Among the most serious felony charges last week in Gregg County are:
- DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED 3RD OR MORE
- DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED W/CHILD UNDER 15 YOA
- INDECENCY W/CHILD SEXUAL CONTACT
- SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD
- ASSAULT FAM/HOUSE MEM IMPEDE BREATH/CIRCULATION
Among the misdemeanor arrests (which we do not report on but see from the Gregg County Sheriff's Office) driving under the influence ranks near the top each and every week. Oftentimes from repeat offenders with a second arrest. The third arrest becomes the felony charge.
As summer begins to wind down and we prepare for the Labor Day weekend, we need to remember that drinking and driving do not go together. It is ok to have a good time and some drinks with friends and to celebrate the weekend, but drinking and driving should never happen.
They just don't go together. If caught by law enforcement, you could face some stiff penalties. Or worse, you could end up changing the lives of innocent people forever who share the road with your impaired thoughts.
