43 Individuals Are Facing Felony Charges After Arrest In Gregg Co.
The heat doesn't deter criminal activity. Just ask Gregg County law enforcement. Last week the Gregg County Sheriff's office, Longview Police along with Kilgore, White Oak, and Hallville Police departments along with Texas DPS and Texas Game Wardens made arrests of all kinds.
Arrests stemming from family violence, possession of illegal drugs, driving under the influence, sexual abuse of children, forgery, operating a vehicle without insurance or no driver's license, aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, and much more.
Officers in Gregg County arrested around 210 people and booked them into the Gregg County Jail last week. Of those arrests, 43 individuals are now facing at least one felony charge, some are facing multiple felony charges.
Among the most serious felony charges last week in Gregg County are:
- DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED 3RD OR MORE
- DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED W/CHILD UNDER 15 YOA
- INDECENCY W/CHILD SEXUAL CONTACT
- SEX ABUSE OF CHILD CONTINUOUS: VICTIM UNDER 14
Among the misdemeanor arrests (which we do not report on but see from the Gregg County Sheriff's Office) driving under the influence ranks near the top each and every week. Oftentimes from repeat offenders with a second arrest. The third arrest becomes the felony charge.
There are just too many people drinking and driving on East Texas roads and it's just not during the night and overnight hours this happens. It happens in the morning and daytime hours too. It's ok to have an adult beverage, but you need to know your limits. Know when enough is enough and arrange a ride home.
