When Does Daylight Saving Time End in Texas?
(Mix 93-1) Now that the kids are back in school and somewhat adjusted to their new sleep routine, the next big adjustment will be the time change when it arrives. However, this time change is easier because they'll gain an hour of sleep instead of losing it, unlike in the spring.
What the Time Change Means for Families
After the time changes, kids will miss staying out and playing in the yard, jumping on the trampoline, riding their bikes, or playing ball of some kind because it will get darker sooner.
The way my mom looked at it when I was a kid, we could play outside until the street light came on, and then when it came on, it was time to head into the house to finish up on our homework and chores, and get ready for bed. It was a good arrangement for us, I guess.
Now, the first of many 'fake fall' cool fronts is predicted to arrive mid-week next week to knock back our temperatures into the upper 80s, and many East Texans will be reminded of fall and will be wondering when the time change event will happen.
When Does Daylight Saving Time End?
Those darker nights will come much sooner than the actual time change, though. This year, Daylight Saving Time doesn't end until Sunday, November 2nd at 2 a.m.
Thanks to modern technology, there shouldn't be that many clocks you have to run around the house and change. Besides the microwave, coffee maker, and clock in your stove, the only other clock you may have to change is the battery-operated one on the wall.

Clocks and Safety Checks to Remember
At the same time we change those clocks, it's also a good reminder to check and change the following things too:
- smoke detector - replace the batteries
- carbon monoxide detector - replace the batteries
- home alarm - coordinate with your monitoring service and let them know you want to test it

Why Texas Still Can’t Get Rid of DST
Throughout the past few years, there have been efforts in Texas and on the national level to do away with Daylight Saving Time. As it passes one branch of the legislature, it stalls in another. It would be nice to get rid of the biannual changing of the clocks and match nature for once. I have a feeling it will happen; we just have to be patient.
