Is Shreveport Ready for an $80 Fantastic Four ‘Galactus’ Popcorn Bucket?
The summer blockbuster movie season is upon us. As the clock rolls into June and July, movie fans in the Shreveport and Bossier City areas are getting served multiple big budget titles. But what will separate these blockbuster movies from one another? What will get you to spend your hard earned money at the theatre this year?
While some of the movies we've already seen released into the wild for the summer season have performed well at the box office, others have been skewered. Films like Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Final Destination Bloodlines, and the live action Lilo & Stitch all had highs at the box office. Whether setting records for a franchise, a weekend, or a particular rating. But on the other side of the coin, a big Marvel movie has been treated a little worse.
Marvel's Thunderbolts...or New Avengers now? I guess. Anyway, Thunderbolts made a robust $160.1 million in its opening weekend. That kind of number is one that most movies would beg for. But as a Marvel movie, the expectations are higher than basically any other franchise. Except maybe Star Wars.
But Marvel is about to take another swing at a summer blockbuster for 2025, as they prepare to release The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25th. This movie is a highly anticipated film, using a group of Marvel heroes that are a little more well known than the Thunderbolts. Marvel is expecting to land a massive opening weekend on this one.
The profits for Fantastic Four are going to go well beyond just the box office ticket sales. In fact, Marvel is trying something that I don't know if I've ever seen before. They're going to offer in-theatre options that approach $100 price tags.
As theatres, including the ones in Bossier City and Shreveport, are offering Galactus LED Popcorn Buckets. These buckets are in the shape of the head of Marvel character Galactus, and are huge. They are 361 oz popcorn buckets, that feature a metallic finish, and LED eyes. These also carry a price tag starting at $79.95 each.
