Lil Wayne will always have a huge fan base in Louisiana, it's hard not to when you're a famous rapper born and raised in New Orleans. So when Tha Carter VI dropped earlier this week, there was excitement from fans that quickly drained away, leaving many to question if it lives up to the hype.

Critical Dissapointment: A Swing and a Miss for Weezy

The reviews for Wayne's fourteenth album have not been kind. The reviews by Google users alone say 57% of users liked the album. Major music reviewers are being even harsher with the album. Notoriously critical YouTube music reviewer The Needle Drop (stylized as 'theneedledrop' online) reviewed the album as a 2 out of 10, Billboard's Kyle Dennis said it's "not a good album at all," and Pitchfork gave it a 2.9 out of 10.

Production Pitfalls and AI Allegations

A common problem people have with the album is a feeling of overproduction, that too many cooks were in the kitchen for this one. That might be true to an extent, the album credits nearly 30 different producers.

One of the biggest problems people have with the album as of right now is the suspected use of AI for parts of the album. Songs like "Welcome to tha Carter" have been accused of being filled with AI samples.

For an album from someone once considered the greatest rapper of his generation, with features from legends like Bono, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Wyclef Jean, it's sad to see it fall short of the mark.

Give the album a spin and share what you think of Wayne's new album.
