Caddo Parish Commission President Stormy Gage-Watts announced on Tuesday morning she is throwing her hat in the ring for Shreveport Mayor.  She released the following statement:

Today, I am proud to officially announce my candidacy for Mayor of Shreveport. I love this city, its people, its culture, and its potential, and I believe the time has come for a new chapter of leadership that listens, leads boldly, and delivers real results.

I’m running for mayor because Shreveport deserves a leader who won’t just manage the status quo, but who will fight to move our city forward. I’ve walked our neighborhoods, spoken with business owners, sat with families, and listened to the concerns of everyday people. What I’ve heard is clear: Shreveport wants safer communities, stronger economic opportunities, and a city government that truly works for its people.

This isn’t just my campaign. This is a movement for all of Shreveport. We can build the kind of city our children can be proud to inherit. I believe in Shreveport’s future, and I know that united, we can create a community with opportunities for every family. I invite everyone who loves this city as much as I do to join me in this movement.

A press conference will be held at a later date to fully outline my platform and share details about our path ahead.

 In humble service I remain,

 Stormy Gage-Watts

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux has already announced his candicacy for re-election.  And there has been speculation that State Senator Sam Jenkins would enter the race, but that has only been speculation as Jenkins has not made any formal announcement.

Gage-Watts told KEEL News she's "excited to walk the city of Shreveport to talk to residents and build a better Shreveport."

The Shreveport Mayor's election is coming up November 3rd, 2026
