A former Caddo Parish School teacher and coach has been found guilty in Caddo Court after being arrested for prohibited sexual contact between an educator and a student.

33 year-old Daton Corbett was a history teacher and football coach at Byrd High School. He engaged in oral sex with the victim during school hours on a weekly basis for her senior year, September 2021 through May 2022.

The victim didn’t report this until 2024 because she did not initially realize that Corbett had used his position of power at the school to take advantage of her. Corbett was working at Northwood High School at the time of his arrest.

Corbett was found guilty and was sentenced immediately after the trial. As a first offense it is a misdemeanor under Louisiana law. Judge Victory sentenced Corbett to serve six months in the parish jail, suspended, with one year of active supervised probation, with registration as a sex offender for 15 years.

From the Caddo DA:

"Assistant District Attorney Courtney N. Ray prosecuted Corbett. He was defended by Holland Miciotto.

The case was Docket No. 403591."
