Even before this extra incentive, since the early 50s, an estimated 500 movies were filmed in Louisiana.
Biographies and TV programs produced in the Bayou State include major blockbuster films like A Streetcar Named Desire, Ray, Steel Magnolias, Queen Sugar, Interview With the Vampire, and The Big Easy just to name a few.

SCARY MOVIES FILMED IN LOUISIANA HEADED TO THEATERS IN 2025
Movies fans will be happy to know that there are multiple horror films currently being produced in Louisiana. The following movies began filming in 2023-2024, and are slated to hit theaters in 2025!
GOONS
A horror movie directed by Gerard McMurry, the creator of The Purge, starring Michael Rainey Jr. and Chloe Bailey. Filming for Goons took place in multiple locations in Louisiana, including Donaldsonville, New Orleans, and Belle Chasse.
This Ryan Coogler-directed flick is scheduled for release on March 7, 2025. The Confluential Films storyline is being kept under wraps for now, but it's set to star (Power) actor Michael Rainey Jr. and R&B singer/actress (Little Mermaid) Chloe Bailey.
The official trailer for an upcoming horror movie, starring Michael B. Jordan just came out. Featuring scenes filmed in Ascension Parish, this movie is going to have audiences clinching their popcorn. According to Warner Bros. Pictures, “Sinners” is about twin brothers who return to their hometown to leave the drama of their troubled lives behind “only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.”
Jordan stars in a dual role as the twins in a horrifying tale filmed all over the state including Donaldsonville, New Orleans, Belle Chasse, St. Bernard, Braithwaite, Tickfaw, Hammond, Napoleonville, and Thibodaux. The film features an outstanding cast co-starring Delroy Lindo, Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, and Omar Benson Miller. Look for “Sinners” directed by Ryan Coogler, to take over theaters in the US on March 7, 2025.
