Family-Friendly “The Zone” Returns For Mardi Gras Lake Charles
We all know Mardi Gras can get a little out of hand along the parade route. People want to have a good time and let their hair down a little during the carnival season. Sometimes kids will get exposed to things they probably should see or hear when festive events occur in the city, and the public is invited to participate.
If you have young children or would prefer to enjoy the Mardi Gras parades in an area that is more family-friendly, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has a designated space for you. Now in its 14th year, it's called "The Zone!” It's a great family-friendly area, an alcohol-and-tobacco-free area where families with teens and small kids can enjoy the parade safely.
"The Zone" is free and will open to the public on Fat Tuesday from 11:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Families will find it situated on Ryan St. in the parking lot between the old Parish Courthouse and the Charleston Building. Don't worry, there will be plenty to do between each parade!
There will be a live DJ and a photo booth. Plus, Bayou Games Truck will have plenty of games, so kids at every age level are sure to have a great time with an obstacle course, laser tag, a bounce house, train rides, and even more fun in the activity tent! With all that fun, you are bound to work up an appetite, and the good news is there will be a lot of great food to enjoy.
