Pools across the nation are dealing with staffing issues and struggling to find lifeguards for the summer. There is a shortage not only impacting our area but the nation as well. SPAR Recreation & Aquatic Center will hold a job fair and evaluation training for lifeguards and swim instructors to make sure they are qualified for the job.

Applicants must be 15 years or older and must be able to obtain an American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. This year, Sulphur Parks and Recreation is offering lifeguards a starting wage of $10.75 per hour. Another bonus is our reimbursement program. SPAR will reimburse the employee $175 from the certification fee if the candidate completes the American Red Cross Lifeguard certification course at SPAR, works at least 300 hours between January 1, 2023, and August 15, 2023, and
maintains availability through August 15, 2023. Several American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Swim Instructor and Lifeguard Review classes are being offered in April and May. Visit www.sulphurparks.com for the complete list of classes.
