Major Retailer In Texas Closing Down More Locations, Here’s What We Know
This retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this month, with a plan to close 300 of their stores nationwide, now they have added more Texas locations to the list.
The major retailer is adding 47 more locations to permanently close down and those also include more locations in Texas as well.
The Hill is reporting that these Big Lots locations in Texas will be closed down:
- Amarillo (Interstate 40)
- College Station
- Corpus Christi (Interstate Highway 69 Access Road,
- Fort Worth (5800 Overton Ridge Blvd and 1250 Green Oaks Rd)
- Katy
- Mansfield
- Nacogdoches
- Pearland
- Tomball
- San Antonio (Hollywood Park)
Big Lots CEO Bruce Thorn said in a press release that most of their store are profitable and they need to focus on downsizing their footprint to preserve the company as a whole.
It looks like they grew too fast and made some bad decisions on where to place stores. It makes good business sense to trim some of the fat for the good of the future of the company.
