South Louisiana Restaurant Offers Big Discount To Gypsy Rose Blanchard
LAKE CHARLES, LA: A South Louisiana restaurant recently posted on Facebook to welcome Gypsy Rose Blanchard to Lake Charles and offer her a big discount on her meal.
Lake Charles school teacher, Ryan Anderson, and Gypsy first met in 2020 when he reached out to her and became a prison pen pal. They were able to meet face-to-face for the first time in 2021. Their relationship grew from there and they we married in July of 2022.
Not only is the Gypsy Rose story a huge national headline, but it's also the main subject of water cooler talk and social media posts here in SWLA about her moving to the area to live with her husband.
Gypsy as of writing this post has 6.4 million Instagram followers. I'm sure she's getting hit left and right from companies hoping to get their brand on her social media accounts some how, some way.
Well, a local Lake Charles restaurant took to Facebook to shoot their shot. This eatery is actually what I would call a "Lake Charles institution". I remember going to this restaurant as a kid back in the 80s and 90s. They have been around forever, which speaks not only to the quality of their food but their customer service as well.
Cancun Mexican Restaurant said on their post that they want to welcome Gypsy to Lake Charles and congratulate her on her new found freedom and marriage. They also extended a welcome gift to Gypsy and her boo in a $50 discount on their meal if they would dine with them.
And as you would expect, there were mixed emotions in the comments, to which Cancun had an amazing response:
At Cancun Mexican Restaurant, our business and mission has always been to make delicious food and provide great service to our customers. Our business is not the criminal justice system. We are not judge and jury, deciding who should be in prison, nor or we the criminal parole board, determining who or when someone is released from prison. We put our faith God and in these systems and believe that they strive to justly serve the public as we do. After being in the restaurant business for over 30 years, we know it is impossible to please everyone. We also know that there will always be negative feedback on social media. Believe me when I say, being a business on social media is very difficult, but it is also a great way to reach our customers and promote our small, family run business. We proudly support the First Amendment of our Constitution and welcome your comments. We do not however, promote hate or violence toward any individual or entity and will remove any posts on our page that do so. We appreciate all of our customers and the support you have given us over the past 30 years. Your support has allowed us to give back to the community as much as we can by sponsoring local schools and teams and supporting other local businesses and we will continue to do so for as long as we can. Because we are a family run business, Cancun restaurant is our home and when you walk through our doors, we will treat you like family. Thank you for your understanding.
Gypsy if you do choose to take Cancun up on their offer, you can't go wrong with two of my favorite dishes: Nachos Cancun or Ms. Linda's tacos. Heck, you're getting a $50 discount, get both for you and bring some home.
