Free Food Hack: Become a ‘Secret Shopper’ at Louisiana Restaurants
A TikToker's advice for how to get free food at restaurants is going viral.
Just sign up to be a "secret shopper," and sites will pay you to go out for dinner and take notes.
Tik Toker Michel Janse says in her video that you read what things they want you to do or look for before you go eat at the restaurant. Some of those things could include:
- How long it takes to get your drink after you order it?
- Is your cutlery clean?
- Did the server offer you dessert?
Eating for free intrigued me so I signed up for the one Michel said she used. And not to my surprise, at the moment that I signed up there are only 2 "jobs" available in the Lake Charles area. They are both about exercising, and currently I'm trying to avoid that activity in my life.
However, if you are going on vacation, there are tons of things to do in bigger cities. I searched the jobs in Houston and pages of jobs showed up. So next time you bring the family out of town, fire up the app and feed the fam for free.
Restaurants aren't the only thing you can do on the app, you can also do retail secret shopping too. It looks like retail stores mainly want you to do tasks like price check items and take notes on customer service.
Michel said that you can not only get your meal reimbursed at restaurants, but some jobs will also pay you to go and eat there.
Once you finish your secret shopping experience, you go back to the app or website and fill out the form and give your review of your time there. Michel says it takes here about 30 minutes to complete. After everything has been verified they well reimburse you and if your job has a payment, they will send it via PayPal.
Michel says there are a bunch of sites that do it, but she used one called iSecretShop.com.
