The Calcasieu Parish School Board released a statement about the early dismissal:

After closely monitoring the weather forecast, we are making the decision to conduct early closure of all Calcasieu Parish Schools and facilities tomorrow, January 24. Dismissal will begin at 11:45 a.m. With sustained winds nearing 30 miles per hour by mid-afternoon, the safe transportation of our students becomes a concern. The safety of our students, faculty, and staff will always be our primary focus, and we feel that this decision is in the best interest of all. Students will be dismissed following normal transportation plans, and all students will receive lunch prior to leaving campus. Students who are normally transported to different campuses during the day will not be transported tomorrow, all after school activities are cancelled and the Curriculum and Instruction Committee meeting will be rescheduled.
