Traffic Alert: I-49 Closures Coming to DeSoto Parish This Weekend
I know this will come as a shock, but DOTD is advising all motorists that there will be some additional traffic delays coming this weekend.

Along with the myriad of construction related issues on I-20 in Bossier City, according to the notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, DeSoto Parish is also in for some longer commute times this weekend.
For those who might be planning to drive to Baton Rouge for the LSU game with Louisiana Tech on Saturday, you might want to leave a little early.
In the alert from DOTD, we learn that tomorrow, Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 7, there will be intermittent lane closures on I-49 northbound and southbound at the LA 3276 interchange (Exit 191 – Stonewall) in DeSoto Parish. This is commonly referred to as the Stonewall-Frierson Road.
DOTD explains that these lane closures are scheduled to take place from approximately 7:00 am to 5:00 pm each day, and are necessary to allow for survey work to be conducted in the interchange area.
The good news is that all entrance and exit ramps will remain open during this work, and though traffic will be slowed at times, no detour is necessary.
Work will be done "Weather Permitting" so any inclement weather could delay, extend or alter in other ways, the scheduled work day/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
