7,000+ SWEPCO Customers Without Power After Storms
The storms that rocked Shreveport/Bossier and most of the Arklatex late Sunday night and early Monday morning have left over 7,000 SWEPCO customers in the dark this morning.

According to the SWEPCO outage map, it would appear the heaviest hit areas are in the Greenwood/Bethany area as well as the Longview, Texas area but a large number of customers are also reporting outages in South Shreveport, Stonewall and the Taylortown area.
At this writing, a total of 7,149 SWEPCO customers are experiencing power outages.
Of course, SWEPCO personnel are working hard to restore power to all of these customers, and SWEPCO reminds all customers to report an outage the minute it is discovered as each outage could pose a safety hazard.
It would also appear that our area isn't completely out of the woods yet in regards to the storms blanketing the area.
In a report from the National Weather Service in Shreveport, most of the Arklatex area, especially the southern half is at marginal risk of isolated storms which includes damaging wind gusts of 60+ miles per hour and possible large hail for the remainder of today.
This additional potentially damaging weather could lead to more safety hazards in regards to damage to power lines/poles. According to the SWEPCO website, "A safety hazard is a condition that poses an immediate risk to the public, and can include:
- Downed wires that may be sparking or near water
- Downed poles
- Trees that have fallen on power lines
- Never go near or touch a power line.
SWEPCO also recommends that all customers enroll in their program that will allow them the ability to receive outage notifications from SWEPCO.
