Latest Announcement Is Great News For Minden Drivers
Great news this morning for drivers in the Minden area who frequent I-20.
In an update from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we learn that there will be no daytime lane closures of both directions of I-20 at LA 531 today as previously announced.
Earlier this week, DOTD had notified all drivers that both east and westbound directions of I-20 at LA 531 would experience intermittent lane closures from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on Friday, August 16 as contractors conducted overhead work on LA 531.
In this latest correspondence, DOTD advises that these intermittent lane closures will no longer take place as previously described.
Instead, the contractor will utilize the ramps at the LA 531 interchange on the night of Friday, August 16, in order to conduct closures on I-20 and maintain traffic flow.
Drivers will be routed to the on and off-ramps to allow the contractor to mobilize equipment and safely perform overhead construction work on the new LA 531 overpass over I-20.
So, if you were preparing to take an alternative route to avoid the intermittent lane closures of I-20 today, you can scrap those plans and continue to take your normal path along I-20.
However, be prepared for some traffic congestion tonight as vehicles are forced off the interstate onto the exit/entrance ramps at LA 531 to navigate around the construction area.
Obviously this work will be conducted weather permitting, so inclement weather could postpone, extend or alter the time/date of this work.
