Another Caddo Parish Closure of LA 1 Set To Begin Monday
Drivers in North Caddo Parish suffered for months during the construction of the new LA 1 bridge over Caddo Lake, and now comes word of another closure of this heavily traveled roadway.

Much like the closure of that bridge, this comes as a matter of safety. In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, motorists are advised of the upcoming project to replace a culvert that is located under the roadway of LA 1 in the Vivian area of north Caddo Parish.
DOTD states that this culvert, located between Northside Lane and W. Milner Street, is no longer functioning properly and will need immediate replacement to ensure proper drainage and the prevention of flooding and damage.
The full closure of LA 1 at this site will begin on Monday, June 9 which will allow the safe removal of the old culvert and construction of a new one and the associated new asphalt paving and striping at the construction site.
During this construction period, which DOTD anticipates completing in August 2025, motorists will be detoured via LA 2, US 71, and Mira Myrtis Road, with signage in place directing drivers through the detour.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
