LDWF Catches Louisiana Man for Alleged Massive Deer Hunting Violations
Once again, we've learned that Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has caught another Louisiana hunter that was unwilling to play by Louisiana's extremely liberal deer hunting laws.

With an overall season limit of six whitetails, three of which are permitted to be antlered deer, Louisiana's annual harvest limit is one of America's most unrestricted.
However, one individual is alleged to feel the need to reach beyond the legal limits and take an extra pair of whitetail bucks.
According to the report from Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, an LDWF enforcement agent recently cited Kyle D. Barksdale, 33, of Geismar, Louisiana, for alleged deer hunting violations in Ascension Parish on January 24.
The agent cited Barksdale for taking over the seasonal limit and daily limit of deer, failing to tag deer, failing to validate deer harvest and failing to comply with harvest card requirements.
From what we've learned, the LDWF enforcement agent, Corporal Brent Hebert, began investigating a hunter that was hunting on land without permission near Geismar. Corporal Hebert came into contact with Barksdale and learned that Barksdale harvested three antlered deer earlier in the 2025-26 deer hunting season without tagging, validating the harvest and failing to comply with harvest card requirements. Two of these deer were harvested while trespassing.
The agent also learned that Barksdale harvested an eight-point buck and a twelve-point buck on January 16 while trespassing. These two bucks put him over his antlered deer daily limit and his antlered deer seasonal limit.
The owner of the property decided to not press charges and agents issued Barksdale a warning for trespassing.
Taking over the daily limit and seasonal limit of deer brings a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail. Failing to tag deer, failing to validate deer harvest and failing to comply with harvest card requirements carries up to a $350 fine for each offense.
Barksdale will also face civil restitution up to $2,400 for the replacement value of the illegally taken deer.
