Louisiana State Police and the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) warn residents about a growing text message scam. Scammers are sending fake texts claiming you owe traffic fines and must act immediately. These messages link to websites that mimic the official OMV site to trick you into giving up personal or payment information.

Officials say:

  • The OMV does not send text messages threatening legal action.
  • Do not click links or share personal info through these texts.
  • Always double-check the source and visit expresslane.org for legitimate OMV services.

Residents are urged to delete suspicious texts and report scams at reportfraud.ftc.gov. Spread the word to help protect your family, friends, and coworkers.
