Watch As Alligator With No Tail Stops Traffic In Louisiana
[KNGT-FM Lake Charles] If you are from Louisiana, chances are you have seen some strange things in your life in the bayou state. From weird things on Bourbon Street to crazy wildlife stopping traffic, you know you're in Louisiana when these things occur.
Such was the case a couple of weeks ago in Plaquemines Parish on May 19, 2025. It is not uncommon to see alligators crossing the roads, stopping traffic in Louisiana, but what is uncommon is seeing an alligator stopping traffic in the middle of the road without a tail.
This video that surfaced on social media blew up as these folks were in their vehicle when they were abruptly stopped on the road by this tailless dinosaur crossing the highway. The video went viral and even caught the attention of national news outlets.

The New York Post even posted the video on YouTube with an explanation of what happened. They talked with the folks who filmed the incident, and they said,
“I couldn’t tell at first if he was an alligator or a big dog or what,” Ashlyn Bartholomew, who saw the runty reptile crossing Highway 23 in Plaquemines Parish on May 19.
Bartholomew had been driving her kids home from baseball practice when she came across the creepy crawler and slammed on her brakes — when the gator dropped placidly down the pavement and gave her a moment to whip out her phone to start filming. -Source-- New York Post

Wow, how crazy is that? No word on how the gator lost his tail, but if you are from Louisiana, I am sure you can figure it out.
