Tropics Are Heating Up, Here’s What Louisiana Needs To Know

[KNGT-FM] - Now that it is July, we are already one month into the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane season. So far this year, we have already had two named storms. Andrea formed out in the middle of nowhere, not affecting land.

Then came Barry, which formed a few days ago and made landfall on the Mexico coast. So in less than a month, we have had two named storms, which forecasters have said is quicker than normal. Usually, it takes until the middle of July to get two named storms in the season.

Now, there is an area of disturbed weather off the Florida/Alabama coast that could potentially form into something. The next storm name on the list would be Chantal.

With that all being said, we wanted to pass along to you that we are getting into the meat of the hurricane season, with August and September typically being the most active months. So it is time to be vigilant and have a plan in place.

One of the best things to do is to have supplies and your hurricane plan in place. It is always good to have things like your medication, cash, batteries, and water on hand, to name a few. Also, have your evacuation plan in place, watch the traffic, and know where you plan to go before you go.
