With wars happening between Ukraine and Russia, fighting in the Middle East, and China threatening to invade Taiwan, the world is facing a lot of tension. It's the closest we've been to a larger war in the past 100 years. The Daily Mail looked at data and ranked the 15 U.S. cities most at risk in a nuclear war. One Louisiana city made the list.

Louisiana has several cities known for high crime rates, making them some of the most dangerous places in the state. Cities like New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport often rank high due to violent crimes such as assaults, robberies, and homicides. Factors like poverty, unemployment, and drug-related issues contribute to the crime rates in these areas. While efforts have been made to improve safety, residents, and visitors are advised to stay aware and take precautions in certain neighborhoods.

With global tensions rising due to conflicts in the Middle East, Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine, and China’s potential moves against Taiwan, the threat of nuclear war feels closer than ever. While the United States is far from these hotspots, experts warn that no place is entirely safe from a nuclear attack. There is one Louisiana city that is considered most "at-risk," can you guess which one?

According to an analysis reported by DailyMail.com, Shreveport, Louisiana, ranks as the 15th most likely U.S. city to be targeted in a nuclear war. This is due to its proximity to Barksdale Air Force Base, located just five miles from the city. Barksdale is home to three squadrons of B-52H Stratofortress bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons and flying long-range missions at high subsonic speeds.

The combination of Shreveport’s population size—385,154 in the metropolitan area—and its military significance makes it a likely target. If a nuclear strike occurred, experts estimate that approximately 24,150 people would lose their lives, and another 103,560 would be injured.
