State Farm Cuts Announced Auto Insurance Rates, Raises Home Insurance
State Farm customers have already been given some good news. As we reported in late December, State Farm says there have been fewer claims for car damage, which means fewer people are asking the company to pay for repairs after accidents. Because of that, the company can charge less. For Home Insurance, it wasn't the case. Progressive Insurance To Cut Auto Rates in 2026
Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple has approved new rate cuts for two Progressive insurance companies. These changes will help nearly 470,000 drivers across the state.
Progressive Security Insurance Company will lower rates by an average of 6.6% for more than 270,000 drivers. Progressive Paloverde Insurance Company will lower rates by 4% for about 200,000 drivers.

When Do The New Insurance Policies Start?
The new rates start January 16 for new policies and February 13 for renewals. Not everyone will save the same amount. Rates depend on where you live, how you drive, and your driving history. For example, New Orleans drivers may pay different rates than drivers in Shreveport or Alexandria.
Progressive says the lower rates are because fewer people are filing claims. More than 20 insurance companies, including State Farm, Geico, and Allstate, also asked for lower rates in 2025.
Hopefully, if you're with Progressive or State Farm, you're going to be saving a bit of money here in the New Year. Drivers can check all approved rate changes on the Louisiana Department of Insurance website.
