Lake Charles Empty Bowl Event Returns This Thursday
KNGT | Lake Charles, LA — Y’all got plans Thursday night? If not… you might wanna change that. This is one of those events that really means something around here.
Coming up this Thursday, April 23rd, the The Salvation Army of Lake Charles is hosting their annual Empty Bowl event, and it’s going down in Lake Charles.
What is the Empty Bowl?
Here’s the deal… it’s simple, but it hits you right in the heart. You show up. You eat. You help somebody. That’s it.
When you walk in, you’re getting a basic meal… soup, bread, and water. Nothing fancy. And that’s kinda the point. It gives you a small glimpse of what a lot of folks deal with every single day right here in our own backyard.
But you don’t leave empty handed.
You get a handmade ceramic bowl, painted by local artists, students, and folks in the community. And that bowl? That’s your reminder. Not everybody’s got a full plate at home.
Now here’s where it really matters…
The money raised goes straight back into Southwest Louisiana. We’re talking food pantries, hot meals, shelter, and even helping families keep the lights on when things get tough. This isn’t one of those “where does the money go” deals… you can see it working right here at home.
They’ll also have a silent auction, some live entertainment, and a whole lot of local flavor. It’s one of those nights where you run into people you know, shake a few hands, maybe laugh a little… but you also leave thinking about something bigger.
And look… we all stay busy. Work, kids, life… it don’t slow down. But this is one of those chances to pause for a second and do a little good without making it complicated.
So yeah… come hungry. But more than that… come ready to be part of something that actually helps people.
