Heads Up, The McNeese Homecoming Parade Is Tonight In Lake Charles — Route
It's homecoming week for McNeese State University, and the celebration starts tonight with the annual homecoming parade. Traditionally, the McNeese Homecoming parade is on Thursdays every year but this year the Thursday falls on Halloween so they have moved it up to tonight, Tuesday, October 29th, 2024.
This year's theme is Pokes on the Bayou, so the parade should be interesting. If you are going to be in the parade you will need to have your float at the parking lot in front of the football stadium between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm for the lineup.
At 6:00 pm the floats will leave the parking lot and head North down Common Street and get the lineup up. They will sit there until the parade starts at 7:00 pm where all floats will take a left onto Lagrange Street and then the parade will start from the corner of Ryan Street and East Lagrange Street.
Then the parade will head South on Ryan to McNeese Street. Then take a left on McNeese Street crossover Common Street and end up back at the football stadium parking lot.
During the parade you know a lot of fun things will be thrown so make sure to watch your children so they don't run out in front of the floats. Safety is the top priority.
For folks going to ride in the parade, there are some dos and don'ts tonight on the parade route. No alcohol is allowed on the floats. There will be random checks done by McNeese PD, LCPD, and the Sheriff’s Dept. It is a NO TOLERANCE ZONE for alcohol.
After the parade, there will be a pep rally inside Cowboy Stadium and everyone is invited! Geaux help the pokes celebrate homecoming tonight!
